I spent $90 for some eggs, bacon, and two small pieces of French toast. And it got higher than that because they didn’t give me a choice not to leave a tip at checkout, which I would not have done, given that the service was subpar at best. The food was bland, and the only saving grace was the maple syrup. It’s a shame because the place has a bit of hype associated with it for those who live around here. I guess if I had to say something nice, I’d compliment the syrup but there’s plenty of other places I can go for that. So much for finding an affordable breakfast place close to home
I’ll start with, this place is not cheap but for what they give you, it’s a great value. Generous portions of fresh quality food. The service may not be the quickest but they make up for it with food worth waiting for and an amazing staff. If you go here and don’t order something with maple syrup, you are missing out! You can’t go wrong with either the pancakes or French toast. Both are flavorful, fluffy and delicious with some of the best maple syrup in New England. If you’re in the area, this is a must try.
I was invited by friends to experience this place, and I came in genuinely excited based on their past visits. Unfortunately, that excitement disappeared pretty quickly once the food arrived.nnI ordered the Lumberjack breakfast and was not impressed. The corned beef hash was extremely soggy and overly salty—honestly worse than canned hash. The home fries were another letdown; instead of being properly pan-fried, they tasted like they were baked too long and ended up burnt. I also ordered a side of bacon, which appeared to be very thin, store-bought slices that were overcooked to the point of crumbling just from touching them—almost like they’d been microwaved. I ultimately left half of my food as it made me feel I'll with how much salt was in it. I've never tasted blandless salty food before, as this was a first.nnThe toast that came with the meal barely seemed toasted at all. It felt like it was quickly buttered and lightly pressed on a grill for a few seconds rather than properly prepared.nnWhat made the experience worse was the price. I covered the bill for our group, and it came to $97 for three meals, three coffees, a side of bacon, and one pancake. After a credit card fee, the total was $101. My personal opinion, if you're going to own a business, you should take the hit for the card fee services, don't pass it on to your customers, that there tells me how much you truly appreciate your customers, which isn't much.nnFor the quality of food we received, that price felt completely unreasonable. I chose to skip the tip option because my group paid for it in cash, but overall, I left feeling disappointed. Based on this experience, I don’t see myself returning. It’s a shame, because I had much higher expectations given the hype.nnResponse to RobynenI don't think that there was any way you could have saved the over priced awful meals we received. My friends apologized to me after stating that they did not know the quality of the food had gone down so much. We also were never greeted by anyone outside of the hostess who was barely interested in working and our server. We also never had anyone approach us for a refill to our coffee, we in fact had to ask a different server on two separate occasions as they rushed by that we needed refills of our coffee. We only ever received 2 refills from the initial pour.
This place has been around for 50 years and I just heard about it last week. Really delicious breakfast food at this place and they get their beef from right across the street. The maple syrup is great and a warm jug is served with your meal. The pancakes were super fluffy and the waffles had a really great vanilla flavour. Scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly as was eggs Benedict. Can’t wait to come back.
We ordered the “Farmers breakfast”. Taste was really really good, The sausage felt homemade, it was extremely tasty. The Texas toast was also perfect. customer service was great too. everyone are pretty polite and respectful. I enjoyed pouring maple syrup into my black coffee, as recommended on the menu. We definitely would love to come back again.
