McAdam Diner

An unexpected holiday trip delight last night.nnWhile this spot would generally get a 4, I'm giving it 5 for providing something very rare these days as larger chains owned by 1 or 2 companies continue their takeover in most places; understanding and caring.nnMy wife, parents, and I had just left the McAdam Railway Station's wonderful Christmas setup and were very hungry. It was a few minutes past 7, which we did not realize was their closing time.nnNot only did they allow the 4 of us to come in and grab some food, but there was also a table of 6 who had arrived not much earlier than us. They mentioned they only had burgers which was more than fair given they were setup to close. So, we all got burgers and fries.nnWe were so hungry, I didn't end up taking photos of anything except the remnants of the fries I took home, but everything was as a diner should be. The ingredients were fresh, the burgers were large, but not too large, and obviously not frozen. The portion of fries, which were cut from fresh potatoes as they still had the skins on them, were again, exactly as a great diner meal should be.nnTo top everything off, the service was very friendly and the prices were unexpectedly affordable for most at under or around $10 before taxes and tip.nnIf you're in the area, which you definitely should be at least once for the holiday season, make sure you plan your trip around meal time. Just make sure to get there well before 7pm because the wonderful people will stay open for you after what I would assume is a long day running a restaurant/business.

this restaurant is a total small-town gem! The atmosphere is cozy, and the service was super nice, the owner and his wife run this place and it gives it a very homey feel. The food was incredible. I had the classic Hot Hamburger with mashed potatoes and vegetables, and it arrived piping hot a comfort food dream. My husband loved the Diner Burger. If you're looking for great hospitality and even better food, this is a 5/5 must-visit.

This place has that classic local feel, you’ll hear friendly chatter from tables around you, people wandering in at all hours for their usual. It’s clear this is the spot for locals to gather, and that alone gives it some real charm.nnWe rolled in about an hour after breakfast hours ended, but the staff didn’t blink an eye when we asked if pancakes were still possible (Super kind of them to make it happen). The pancakes were thick, fluffy, and packed with chocolate chips, definitely hit the spot and kept us full for a while.nnNow, the eggs… bit of a different story. Something was off there. Texture was weird, taste just didn’t sit right. Not trying to be harsh, but definitely something to note.nnThat said, the service was genuinely friendly. You could tell they wanted us to have a good experience. The owner even came over to chat after the meal, shared a few local tips and was just a really kind presence.nnThe food took a little while to come out, but it wasn’t a huge issue, we weren’t in a rush and the vibe was relaxed.nnAll in all, McAdam Diner is the kind of place where you feel like you've stepped into someone’s regular routine in the best way. If you're passing through, it’s worth a stop (Just maybe skip the eggs).

The food was amazing. Everything was fresh and served hot. The milkshakes were to die for. All in all one of the best dinner experiences we had.

Quaint little place; kinda homey. Food was good! Took quite a while for the food, BUT, the cook was working by himself (other worker called in sick). So, you have to be patient in those situations. He was very friendly.
